The Rolex Day-Date 40 Reference 228236, which debuted in 2022, is the first platinum Day-Date 40 ever made with a fluted bezel. Finely machining platinum is notoriously difficult, so previously smooth bezels were the norm for platinum Day-Dates. The platinum Day-Date 40 could even rightly be considered Rolex’s flagship watch.
This example features an ice blue dial with lumed “stick” hour markers. This color is exclusive to Rolex platinum watches. Powered by the Caliber 3255 self-winding mechanical movement, the watch offers a power reserve of approximately 70 hours. As a Superlative Chronometer, it is guaranteed to run within -2/+2 seconds per day.
Completing the timepiece is the famous President bracelet sealed by a hidden Crownclasp.
